    Big Data Major Security Issues: Challenges and Defense Strategies

    Big data has unlocked the door to significant advances in a wide range of scientific fields, and it has emerged as a highly attractive subject both in the world of academia and in business as a result. It has also made significant contributions to innovation, productivity gains, and competitiveness enhancements. However, there are many difficulties associated with data collecting, storage, usage, analysis, privacy, and trust that must be addressed at this time. In addition, inaccurate or misleading big data may lead to an incorrect or invalid interpretation of findings, which can negatively impact the consumers\u27 experiences. This article examines the challenges related to implementing big data security and some important solutions for addressing these problems. So, a total of 12 papers have been extracted and analyzed to add to the corpus of literature by concentrating on several critical issues in the big data analytics sector as well as shedding light on how these challenges influence many domains such as healthcare, education, and business intelligence, among others. While studies have proven that big data poses issues, their approaches to overcoming these obstacles vary. The most frequently mentioned challenges were data, process, privacy, and management.     The Social Network Service "SNS" has enabled significant advancements in a wide variety of scientific fields, and as a result, it has become an extremely popular subject in both academia and business. SNSs can be extremely beneficial to users because they eliminate economic and geographical barriers and can be used for job searching, entertainment and education. Regardless of the economic and social benefits, protecting businesses and users\u27 security and privacy remains a critical issue that must be addressed. It is critical to address and evaluate social network service challenges, as they vary according to the variety of SNS sites. Thus, by discussing SNS challenges alongside available and potential solutions, users, developers, and businesses can identify relevant and timely responses to specific threats, resulting in the best SNS-based services possible. The objective of this article is to discuss the inherent challenges of social networking sites and some critical solutions for resolving them. We extracted and analyzed seminal papers to add to the corpus of literature by focusing on several critical challenges in the social network service domain and shedding light on how these challenges affect a variety of domains, including users, sites, and business. The most frequently mentioned difficulties concerned privacy risks, anonymity risks, malware, spam, identity theft, phishing, business data, social content, technical issues, and psychological difficulties. By incorporating previously discovered solutions, this paper addressed these issues. The implications for both researchers and practitioners have been discussed

    Association between chronological and skeletal age among a sample of saudi male children

    Assessment of skeletal maturity is a necessary clinical need in orthodontics and other health professions. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to detect the association between chronological age and skeletal age in a selected Saudi male sample and to compare their skeletal maturity rate with other populations. MATERIALS and METHODS: Hand-wrist radiographs were obtained for 115 subjects and the skeletal age for each subject was determined using a standard hand-wrist radiographic atlas. Also, the skeletal maturity stage for each subject was established using Bjƶrk assessment method. Statistical tests were performed to detect signifcant differences between chronological and skeletal ages at different skeletal maturity stages. The rate of skeletal maturity of the participating Saudi sample was also compared to analogous values that were previously established for other populations. RESULTS: The fndings of the present study indicated that the participating Saudi children had a tendency towards late maturation with the mean skeletal age of the participating subjects being signifcantly lower (P<0.05) than the chronological age at various skeletal maturity stages. When considering the rate of skeletal maturity, the participating Saudi children demonstrated a comparable maturity rate to that of other children from different populations.     Removal of Cr(VI) and Toxic Ions from Aqueous Solutions and Tannery Wastewater Using Polymer-Clay Composites

    Polymer-clay composites were prepared by natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) or naturally local clay deposits in an N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linked. The resultant composites were used for the removal of Cr(VI) from an aqueous solution. Additionally, their effects on soluble ions of tannery wastewater were investigated. The produced composites were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that Cr(VI) removal is dependent upon initial concentrations and pH. The adsorption quantity of Cr(VI) onto the polymerized clay deposit followed by polymerized zeolite exhibited higher values than their original samples. The polymer-clay composite of clay deposit showed the highest removal of 76.3ā€“100% overall initial concentrations of 10ā€“50 mg Lāˆ’1 and at initial pH of 2. Kinetics of Cr(VI) removal by various sorbents was predicted using a pseudoā€“second order model. Our findings showed that the levels of salinity and various soluble ions (Cr2+, Na+, Clāˆ’ and SO42āˆ’) in tannery wastewater are very high, and their levels were reduced after treatment, especially by polymerized sorbents. It could be concluded that the polymer-clay composites may be employed as a highly efficient sorbent for the removal of Cr(VI) and toxic ions from the wastewater

    A Country on the Verge of Malaria Elimination ā€“ The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    Significant headway has been made in the global fight against malaria in the past decade and as more countries enter the elimination phase, attention is now focused on identifying effective strategies to shrink the malaria map. Saudi Arabia experienced an outbreak of malaria in 1998, but is now on the brink of malaria elimination, with just 82 autochthonous cases reported in 2012. A review of published and grey literature was performed to identify the control strategies that have contributed to this achievement. The number of autochthonous malaria cases in Saudi Arabia decreased by 99.8% between 1998 and 2012. The initial steep decline in malaria cases coincided with a rapid scaling up of vector control measures. Incidence continued to be reported at low levels (between 0.01 and 0.1 per 1,000 of the population) until the adoption of artesunate plus sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine as first line treatment and the establishment of a regional partnership for a malaria-free Arabian Peninsula, both of which occurred in 2007. Since 2007, incidence has decreased by nearly an order of magnitude. Malaria incidence is now very low, but a high proportion of imported cases, continued potential for autochthonous transmission, and an increased proportion of cases attributable to Plasmodium vivax all present challenges to Saudi Arabia as they work toward elimination by 2015
